March to the Arch

If someone would have told me a month ago that I would spend the latter half of my Spring Break covering NCAA Tournament basketball, I would have laughed at them.

But this past weekend, the unexpected happened as Ohio advanced to the Sweet 16 in St. Louis. I couldn’t pass up the historic opportunity and made the 7-hour trip from Columbus with some fellow Posties.

The game was close — an overtime heartbreaker in which Ohio ran out of steam after mounting a huge second half comeback — and I definitely had the experience I was working for. Just walking into the Edward Jones Dome gave me the chills a little bit, and shooting the game will be one of my favorite memories from my freshman year, I’m sure.

The trip itself was as enjoyable — a typical road trip marked by cheap food, a van and a sketchy Ramada Inn. I hope there’s many more to come in the future.

Here’s some shots from the games I shot (I stuck around for the NC State-Kansas game too.) Let me know what you think.

  1. Which lens did you use for the first photo ?

  2. Yeah I really like it. I bought that one after Christmas and got a really good deal. It’s great for wider shots like that but is still a really good general-use lens for day-to-day stuff. I borrowed the 70-200.
